FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES
I teach all of the Family and Consumer Science classes at FHS. Most of you will remember this as "Home Ec"!!! Below I have outlined a little about each of my classes and activities that I am in charge of.
PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN SERVICES
This is an introductory course for each of the areas in my subject. We do a little bit of everything in here!!! Grading will be done according to policy and most grades will be project based.
SEWING-- FASHION DESIGN AND INTERIOR DESIGN
This class is project based and so grading will be done accordingly. Each student will make a quilt. Some students will also be able to make some other things when they have a completed quilt. They will need to provide their own fabric and some basic sewing supplies. Be watching on the FISD Facebook page for some completed projects!!!!
FOODS--- LIFETIME NUTRITION AND WELLNESS, CULINARY ARTS
This is the class where we cook and eat!!! But more importantly I want the students to learn about feeding their bodies for a lifetime!!!! Grading will be done according to policy and grades will be taken in a variety or ways.
UIL--EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEAKING
I coach the exempt speakers for UIL. There are 2 divisions-- informative and persuasive. We need good public speakers and those interested in current events.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Membership in this organization is based on grades, citizenship, leadership and community service. Students are eligible 10th-12th grade. They must have a cumulative average of 90 or more to be eligible to apply.
BPA--BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA
We are always looking for students to join us in this organization. It is open to anyone and the dues are $20. Students have the opportunity to compete in various contests centered around the business world.
SENIOR CLASS SPONSOR
In the senior year there are lots of activities!! We have senior suppers in the spring provided by our local churches. We will be taking the students to college days and we love the senior signing day!! We will have a senior fun day in May and then graduation is set for May!!!
