The Best Gift
The best gift I have ever received was the family I have now. I thank God for this most precious gift. We have had so many fun times, and we have made so many memories. I can not wait to see what the future has in store for us. My family was and will forever be the best gift I have ever received.
A Time of Joy
Christmas is definitely a time of joy and coming together with family. It is more than the presents, and it’s more than just the food. Christmas is about love. Christmas is about being truly happy and for one day, we do not have to deal with the reality of the world. I see Christmas as an escape from everyday life. Christmas breaks the silence of family you haven’t seen in a while, and it shows that even if you are having a hard time, there is still love and joy.
If I Could Grant One Wish
If I could grant one wish for the world on Christmas it would be that we all would cherish the time we have and not take anything for granted. I wish people would appreciate the little things, like a warm cup of hot cocoa on a lazy, snowy evening, singing Christmas carols with friends and family, strolling the streets and taking in the beautiful Christas lights. I would much rather spend my time with loved ones doing the little things that make Christmas so magical as opposed to spending money.
The Best Gift
The best gift I have ever received was my Granny’s wedding ring. My Granny passed away two days before Christmas in 2019, and after the funeral service my grandfather came up to me and placed the ring in my hand. I was shocked that he gave me this most precious gift; it is something that I will always cherish. This gift meant more to me than any other gift I could have received. My hope is to one day pass this ring down to my own child. This ring is more than diamonds and gold, it symbolizes 57 years of commitment, sacrifice, and love.
Christmas is One of My Favorite Holidays
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. One of my favorite Christmas memories when my sister announced her pregnancy. My sister and her husband got a photo of my grandparents and put the years they became parents and grandparents. On the bottom it said, “Great Grandparents Est. 2020.” Everyone knew what they were trying to say except to my Nana. She thought they were trying to say she was great! Once everyone was on the same page we were all so excited. That was a Christmas I will never forget.
To Lend Time
To lend one’s time is selfless, but to lend one’s heart is truly caring. We often forget about those who sacrifice their own Christmas in order to help others. These people are prime examples of what Christmas truly is. Lending a small hand, and getting a big smile back. Thank you to the medical caretakers for your sacrifice, sympathy, and servitude.
To Me, Christmas Is...
To me, Christmas is one of the most important holidays; not just because of the presents and the pretty lights, but because Christmas is a time to come together and rejoice. Christmas is about showing gratitude and compassion, and helping others. Christmas is a celebration, a celebration of our differences and the love we have for each other. Decorating the entire house, spending time with family, and shopping for the people I love is what makes Christmas so special to me.
My Favorite Christmas Tradition
My favorite Christmas tradition is when the family comes over to decorate the Christmas tree. We always put up the tree at least a month before Christmas. All of my aunts, uncles, and cousins come over and we turn on the Dolly and Kenny Rogers Christmas album. We play it over and over and we dance around while we put the ornaments on the tree. Once the tree is decked in lights and ornaments, we sit on the couch, drink hot chocolate, and talk and laugh for hours.
To Me, Christmas Means Being Happy
To me, Christmas means being happy. No matter what family goes through, or how many times we don’t see eye to eye, Christmas is the one day we all get along. Eating and being around people I care about makes me happy. Christmas is about forgetting all of your problems and being around those you love; that makes me happy.
If I Could Grant One Wish
If I could grant one wish for the world it would be for everyone to be truly happy. It has been a hard couple of years for everyone, including myself. Very few people have been able to get together and enjoy the happiness of just being together. We have not been able to observe family traditions, and that has taken the fun out of the holidays. My hope is that this year the holidays will be back to normal and that we will be able to enjoy our families and continue the traditions that make Christmas so special.
My Favorite Christmas Movie
My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone. Home Alone brings me nostalgia that is difficult to put into words. When I was young every year during the holiday season I would stay with my grandparents. My time at their house would consist of drinking hot chocolate, sharing stories, and watching Home Alone together. I still smile thinking of my grandpa laughing at each injury the burglars would sustain. The idea of a child pulling off those antics were hilarious to us, and my grandma would laugh so hard because we were laughing. As I have gotten older I have grown to realize just how precious these memories are. Pretty soon, the winter season will be upon us and I will be flooded with those memories again, and I can’t wait.
One of My Favorite Christmas Memories
One of my favorite Christmas memories was when I was a little boy. It was Christmas Eve and we were having a Christmas party. Earlier in the year, we had all drawn names so we could exchange gifts on Christmas Eve. I was so excited to see my best friend Brandon open the snowball maker I had gotten him. He opened it as fast as he could, and was so excited with the gift. I was the last one to open my gift, it was from mom’s best friend’s daughter, Marissa. She had gotten me a video game and a mistletoe. I had no idea what a mistletoe was at the time, and she held it over my head and gave me a kiss. I was blushing and embarrassed to death. Everyone was saying laughing and saying, “Awwwww.” After I got over the embarrassment, we all went outside to play in the snow. Brandon and I played with the snow ball maker, and every time someone walked past us we threw a snowball at them. Everyone ended up chasing us, and when they finally caught us they covered us with snow. We all played together for the rest of the day. When it came time for everyone to leave Marissa came up to me and gave me a hug another kiss on the cheek! I felt like a king.
