Mr. Beauchamp

Hello!  I cannot believe I have been teaching here at Flour Bluff High SchHello!  I cannot believe I have been teaching here at Flour Bluff High School for well over twenty years. When I first started here, back in 1998, my current crop of seniors weren't even born yet!   I've taught (and personally developed) the English IV curriculum from the very beginning.  I also teach Creative Writing, a personal project of mine:  my degree has a specialization in creative writing.  Because of this, it is a highlight of my day, and those who take the class have made me very proud with their efforts.  Additionally, I have created a Special Topics class:  Short Stories.  I am very proud of this project and the alternative it gives seniors to British Lit. (***NOTE:  this class isn't currently available) The stories are overwhelmingly written during the 20th (and even 21st!) century; current issues are addressed; the authors are of a plethora of voices (men, women, Black, White, Asian, Indian, etc.).  It is an incredibly enriching and rewarding experience for the student who likes to specifically read SHORT STORIES.  He or she will never read a poem (ha ha ha)! In addition to my teaching duties I am the UIL Ready Writing coach.  My team competes with other schools in our area (and beyond), writing expository essays based upon nothing more than a choice of prompts they've NOT seen before (and all of this on a SATURDAY morning!).

If you are one of my students, don't hesitate to be proactive in using this website to get missing work (or even maybe to get ahead!)  Just go to Google Classroom and I will have posted the assignments, the class explanations, the literature we read, and even the audio!  Everything right there at your fingertips to be successful!

If you are a parent, PLEASE don't hesitate to get in touch with me by emailing or calling during my conference period.  I look forward to being able to answer any questions or concerns.

Here's to a GREAT YEAR!
