Suncoast Chapter Addendum
Introduction: This Addendum to the Florida Trail Association (FTA) Chapter Operating
Procedures (COP) provides additional Chapter-specific organization, policy, and procedure for the
Chapter operations as required and permitted by the COP. This Addendum, when combined with the
governing COP, the FTA Trail Manual (TM), and the FTA Activity Leaders Guide (ALG) provide the
authority and the requirements for FTA Chapter Operations and are the sole basis for such
operations.

Leaders Elected & Terms of Office:
The Suncoast Chapter elects the Chapter Chair, Vice-Chair and Chapter Treasurer in
November in odd-numbered years and are installed in January. These chapter officers serve
two-year terms without term limits until they resign or are removed by 51% of the chapter
membership attending a scheduled chapter meeting in person or virtual.
Standard Month for Regular Elections: November in odd numbered years with installation
in January
Quorum for Voting in elections and on other business:
Membership/business meetings: Twenty members in good standing in attendance at general
membership meetings in-person or virtual constitute a quorum for any issues requiring a vote
by the general membership.

Executive Team: A majority of Executive Team in-person and/or virtual shall constitute a
quorum.
Process for appointment of Non-elected Leadership Team positions:
Chapter Chair announces appointments for such positions at scheduled chapter meetings.
These individuals are recruited based on their skill sets and commitment levels. They are
not nominated or voted upon.
Chapter Standing Committees or Teams:

Chapter Business Approval Process(es):
Chapter business decisions may be approved by a majority vote of the Executive Team. The
Executive Team may refer business decisions to the Chapter Membership for approval, by
majority vote of members in good standing, at a general membership meeting in-person or
virtual as determined by the Executive Team.
Authority and Procedure for Expenditure of funds:
Chapter Treasurer has authority at their discretion to approve and for disbursements up to
$200.00. Anything over $200.00 requires approval by the Chapter Chair after being advised
of necessity and purpose.
Chapter Meetings: are held in January, March, October, November, and December
We have a traditional pre-Thanksgiving campout, turkey dinner and chapter meeting the
week before Thanksgiving.
Other Chapter Specific Policies and Procedures: None
Procedure for Amendment of Chapter Addendum to COP:
This Addendum will be reviewed on an as needed basis. Notice of proposal to amend this
Addendum shall be provided to the Chapter members by electronic mail, or posting on our
Chapter Activity site (Meetup) This Addendum may be amended by two-thirds (2/3s) vote
of FTA members in good standing present at the chapter meeting.
