BECAUSE...
We Are Proud to Be Elks.
Elks are a nationwide community of nearly one million patriotic Americans. We love our country and work to preserve its cherished institutions, traditions, and values. We respect our neighbors and actively promote their well-being. We enjoy life—and believe that joy is multiplied when shared with family, friends, and our greater community.
We Stand for Service and Brotherhood.
At Farmington Elks Lodge #1986, we seek individuals who value friendship, patriotism, fairness, and a dedication to doing good. Elks find purpose in serving others: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, supporting those in distress, and being a true friend to anyone in need.
We Offer No Promises—Only Purpose.
Membership in the Elks isn’t about fame or personal advancement. It’s about becoming a better person and living with integrity. We believe that kind actions speak louder than empty wishes, and that the world gets better when enough caring people take action. Elks choose kindness over cruelty, laughter over sorrow, and service over self-interest.
We Welcome All Who Share Our Values.
We never judge a person by their religion, race, background, education, or financial status. We measure a person by their character and deeds. Elks are united by a shared commitment to God, Family, and Country—and we keep divisive politics and religious differences out of our Lodge halls.
We’ve Quietly Made a Difference for Over 140 Years.
Millions of Elks have worked behind the scenes to improve the lives of others. Often, our help comes without recognition or thanks—because that’s not what matters. What matters is showing up for our communities. You may have been helped by the Elks before. Now, it’s your turn to make a difference.
We Are a Local Force for Good.
At Farmington Elks Lodge #1986, you’ll find opportunities to improve our community right alongside your neighbors and friends. For over a century, we’ve lived our values—Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity—not just in words, but in deeds.
We Serve Veterans with Honor.
Elks donate millions annually in support of Veterans and active-duty military personnel. We visit VA hospitals, deliver care packages, and offer direct aid. As we pledge: “So long as there are Veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.”
We Support Education and Youth.
Through the Elks National Foundation—with assets nearing $400 million—we award over $17 million in scholarships and grants each year. Locally and nationally, Elks support youth through leadership programs, summer camps, athletic teams, scouting, drug prevention, and more.
We Care for Those in Need.
Elks operate camps, clinics, hospitals, and home-service programs across the country for children and adults with disabilities, including speech, vision, and mobility challenges.
We Invest Heavily in Charity.
Nationwide, Elks contribute nearly $70 million annually to community and charitable causes—plus an additional $240 million in volunteer time, goods, and services. These aren’t just numbers—they’re real lives changed by people who care.
We Are Everywhere—and You’re Never Alone.
With over 2,000 Lodges across the United States, including right here in Farmington Hills, MI, you’ll always find a warm welcome and a helping hand. As a member of the Elks, you join a family of friends who will stand by your side—and stand up for what’s right.
