GT Services at FPS

The GT program serves children of all ages.

2022-23 Overview

Pre-school

Children from birth through age 4 are eligible to enroll in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, free of cost! Enrolled children receive a book in the mail each month. It's an amazing program! (This is not an official GT program, but the GT teacher is also the DPIL coordinator, and she believes this program serves children in a similar way.)

Elementary School

This year all students in K-1 will start the year out learning chess in their weekly 30-minute GT sessions, and 2nd-3rd graders will build ensemble and performance and presentation skills in their weekly sessions.

Students begin to be referred for individualized GT services starting in 4th grade.

Fourth-6th graders come to the GT room regularly throughout the week. This year's 4th graders will dive deep into the basics - food, clothing, and shelter - by exploring architecture, fashion design, and food science.

Middle School

5th-6th graders will delve into entrepreneurship.

Seventh-8th graders meet weekly or biweekly in the GT room and receive extensions to the curriculum of their core content classes. This year, they will have the opportunity to flex their entrepreneurial skills.

High School

High schooler (grades 9-12) receive GT services through a variety of program options including: Pre-AP courses, Concurrent Credit Courses, and Special Classes. Their schedule this year doesn't allow for regular face-to-face meetings with the GT teacher, so we started an online class and students will have the opportunity to participate in the Stock Market Game.

The GT room is open to high schoolers on Fridays to use as a workspace.
