Dear Parent/Carer,

I would like to welcome you to Alloa Academy. We are looking forward to welcoming your child fully into S1 when they arrive in August. As your child completes P7, they will be beginning to think about the move to secondary school. Beginning secondary school can be daunting for pupils (and their parents!), but I would like to reassure you that we will do everything we can to make it as smooth as possible. We have excellent links with all of the schools across our Learning Community and work closely with them throughout the year to make the transition as smooth as possible.

The P7/S1 Transition Hub is a place where you can find all the important and relevant information and gain an insight into our school. It is important to us to work in partnership with Parents and Carers and we regularly update our whole school website with information about what is going on in the school. Our transition programme would normally consist of:

• Visits from Pupil and Learning Support staff 

• A visit to the school for the Learning Festival - October

• Creative and Aesthetic Experience in Art and Music - May

• Open and Information Evening for Pupil, Parents/Carers - 16 May 

• Health, Wellbeing & Digital Transition Day - 25 May

• CSI Alloa Science Activity - June

• 2 Transition Days where pupils follow their timetable  - 8 & 9 June

In addition, your child will be enrolled in the  P7 Google Classroom, giving them the opportunity to meet some key staff and try some fun tasks from the various curricular areas. The virtual tour will also help them to familiarise themselves with the building and Departments. 

Special arrangements are made with our ASN and EASN team where your child requires enhanced provision in order to ensure they experience a smooth transition also.
