The Formula

The Fleming County School District has meticulously crafted the Measures of Quality's accountability formula to align with the district's overarching vision of becoming a District of Distinction. Within this formula, the district places a deliberate emphasis on prioritizing student growth (Readiness for Learning) and student agency (Personalization of Learning), while still recognizing the significance of student achievement (Achievement of Learning).

In particular, the district focuses directly on promoting student growth in the areas of reading, math, and writing, and indirectly extends this focus to these very content areas. Within the framework of the Measures of Quality, a substantial 55% of the accountability formula is dedicated to evaluating student growth and fostering student agency. This weighting reflects the district's belief that it offers a more comprehensive and insightful measure of readiness.

This approach encourages holistic progress across various academic facets and provides students, including those who may face challenges with standardized assessments, the opportunity to demonstrate their readiness in reading, math, and writing through performance-based assessments.
