Athletics - LMS Only
Students are permitted to participate in only one sport per season.
Football (7th and 8th grade) workouts are held on the LHS Football Field. There is a Facebook page, LMS Football Parents, that is utilized to share information with parents. The first game is Tuesday, August 15.
Volleyball (7th and 8th Grade) Summer Workout will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. in the Lapel Middle School Auxiliary Gym. Tryouts will be held August 9th -11th after school from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Follow the middle school page on facebook "Lapel 7th and 8th Volleyball" for updates, cancelations, etc.
Tennis (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) practice will begin Monday, July 31st - 3rd from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Then, August 9th from 3:30- 5:15. The first match is Tuesday, August 29th.
Cross Country (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) practice will start on Monday, August 14th from 3:30-4:15 p.m. The first meet will be Tuesday, August 29th.
Coed Soccer (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) practice will begin Wednesday, August 9th from 3:30 - 4:30 pm at the Lapel Middle School Soccer Field.
Cheer (7th and 8th grade) will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00 pm beginning on Thursday, August 10th.
2023-2024 Physical Forms Paperwork must be turned in prior to your student starting workouts, open gyms, or practices this summer and fall for Lapel Middle School. The physicals must be dated 4/1/23 or later to count for this 23-24 school year.
The final piece of the athletic physicals is the online Synergy Athletic Participation Registration.
Returning athletes must be sure to have all previous dates changed to reflect the actual date that you are registering your student for this school year while completing the online form. Athlete's Medical Information, CIO Consent, Drug Testing Policy, Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Athletics Physical Form, including the Consent & Release Form need to be updated each year.
Be sure to get physicals returned to the office in a timely manner as athletes are not allowed to participate until those are on file. Athletes must have 8 official practices before being eligible to participate in a contest. Official practices begin July 31st.

***Chromebooks for students at Lapel Elementary School will be available in classrooms. There is not a requirement for individual student purchases for students until they begin middle school.

New Student Registration
The office will be open for New Student Registration August 1-3. Please call the elementary office at (765) 534-3101 or the middle school office at (765) 534-3136 to set up an appointment for one of those dates.
Open House and Meet the Teacher Nights
LES
Kindergarten University (beginning at 6:00 p.m.)
On August 3 at 6:00 p.m., Kindergarten students and parents are encouraged to attend Kindergarten University! During this time, teachers will share information about their classrooms and daily routines for kindergarten students. Please join us for an exciting evening introducing and preparing families for an awesome kindergarten year!
Meet the Teacher Night (5:00-7:00 p.m.)
Monday, August 7 is Meet the Teacher Night! Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Please join us for an evening where students and parents can meet their teachers and get acquainted with their new classroom. During this time, students can meet their teachers, drop off classroom supplies, and become comfortable with general classroom expectations. The evening ends at 7:00 p.m.
4th and 5th Grade Success Night (6:00-6:30 p.m.)
Success Night will be August 22, 6:00-6:30 p.m.! This special night is for parents and students in 4th and 5th to meet with teachers to gain a better understanding of what the expectations are for upper-elementary students. These transitional years are essential to individual student growth and also for preparation for success as middle and high school students. Teachers will share what to expect throughout the school year and how to best support students for daily success. This opportunity will be a whole group experience that will include teacher-provided information, as well as an opportunity for questions from students and parents.

Open House (12:00 - 8:00 p.m.)
Students and parents/guardians may come in on August 3rd to place items in their lockers. The school will be open on August 3, 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. You must check your ParentVue account for schedule information. Paper copies of schedules will not be available until the first day of school. Locker numbers will be provided for students in the office during Open House.
Meet the Teacher Night (beginning at 7:00 p.m.)
Students and parents are invited to join us on August 22 at 7:00 p.m. for LMS Meet the Teacher Night. During this time, students will lead their parents through a "regular school day." Families will visit each class in order of the student's schedule for seven minutes per period. During that time, teachers will share classroom expectations and learning outcomes for each individual class.
Summer Reading Information - LMS Only
As a reminder, summer reading was assigned to all Lapel Middle School students at the end of the last school year. All students are expected to read the novel listed below before returning to school in August. Upon return, students will complete a test and a project over their summer reading assignment. These activities will be graded and incorporated into the English grade for the first nine weeks of the 2023-2024 school year.

School dismisses for K-2 car riders at 2:50, Grades 3-5 car riders at 2:55 p.m., and all other students at 3:00 p.m.

Daily Schedule (Monday - Thursday)
*IMPACT Fridays are days when dedicated time is provided for students and teachers to focus on high priority skills necessary for academic success. Sessions will focus both on skill building and enrichment.
**More information to come about after care procedures. Morning care is not provided for middle school students. However, middle school students may be dropped off at Door 5 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
