Writing: Unit 4 Essay: Write a narrative. Students will be writing a scene to add to the week 2 story, I Speak Spanish, Too. The narrative should show understanding of character traits, descriptive language, and character dialogue.

Week 3: 1/9-1/14 - Write/type and edit narrative
*Student have started typing their essays. Please feel free to read their essay in Google Classroom and help edit. We will continue to work on these essays through next week.
Math: Unit 7: Algebra and Patterns: Students took a preassessment for this unit and began learning about the order of operations (PEMDAS)
Social Studies: Started our BizTown unit where students will learn about personal finances and career options.
Science: We will be starting our unit on Force and Motion.

What: During this special evening, student and families will have the opportunity to explore the middle school, learn about our educational program, and meet some important staff supporting their transition.

Join us for a special evening as our 5th graders take the stage! The 5th Grade Program will be held on Tuesday, February 17th at 6:30 PM in the Scandia gym. Come support our students and enjoy a night of music and celebration!
5th graders have the opportunity to be a part of a district wide spelling bee! On Monday, January 12, all students will take a written spelling test. On Friday, January 16, the top 3 students from each class will be a part of the oral spelling bee. If you do not want your student to participate in the oral portion of the spelling bee, please let your classroom teacher know. More information regarding the spelling bee was sent home on Friday, December 19th.
