In Loving Memory of J.S Williams
An amazing Father, Husband and Grandfather.
We wear your strength as a badge of honor Daddy!
The Heart Behind the Flannel Shirt Foundation:
The Flannel Shirt Foundation was created in honor of J.S. Williams — a hardworking father, a man of quiet strength, and a living example of faith in action. For as long as we can remember, J.S. wore his flannel shirt open over a simple T-shirt. It was his everyday uniform, but it was more than clothing. It was a symbol of who he was: steady, strong, humble, and always ready to work for the people he loved.
J.S. was the kind of man who did whatever it took to take care of his family. His hands were strong, his work ethic unmatched, and his love unwavering. To us, he was the strongest man we had ever known — not because he tried to be, but because he simply was. His strength was quiet, dependable, and rooted deeply in his faith.
When he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, that strength never wavered. Even as his body faced the hardest battle of his life, his faith only grew stronger. He never complained. He never asked, “Why me?” Instead, even in his final days, lying in a hospital bed, he continued to live out the values that defined him. When visitors came, he would look up with gentle eyes and ask, “Do you need anything?” or “If you need me, I’ll help any way I can.”
That was who he was — a man whose instinct was always to serve, even when he was the one in need.
His body was strong.
His love was strong.
And his faith was the strongest of all.
The flannel shirt now represents everything he stood for: warmth, protection, humility, hard work, and a faith that held firm through every storm. It is a reminder that strength doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful, and that true service comes from the heart.
The Flannel Shirt Foundation carries that legacy forward. We exist to support families facing Glioblastoma and all forms of cancer, to shine light on under funded research, and to stand beside caregivers and communities in need. But we also extend our reach beyond cancer, helping wherever help is needed — just as he would have done.
Every act of service, every dollar raised, every hand we hold is done in the spirit of the man who taught us what strength, love, and faith truly look like.
This is his legacy.
This is our mission.
This is the Flannel Shirt Foundation.
