AVID CLASS OF 2025
What is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an internationally recognized program designed to prepare students for success in four-year colleges and universities. AVID students enroll in college preparatory classes, including Honors, AP and IB. AVID students also participate in extra-curricular activities such as, but not limited to, athletics, theater, art, band, dance, and agriculture.
AVId students
Have the potential and motivation to qualify to attend a four-year university or college
Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
Have the ability and desire to complete college preparatory/honors/AP coursework
Are willing to commit themselves to completing daily homework
Have regular attendance and good work habits
Have appropriate classroom behavior
Possess individual determination and a sense of responsibility
Participate in extra-curricular activities and/or community service
Desire a program that provides college preparatory skills and opportunities

To develop students' academic skills so they may enroll and succeed in the most rigorous college preparatory, honors, AP and IB classes
To improve students’ college readiness skills, such as note-taking, organization/time-management and reading/writing skills
To ensure students meet the eligibility requirements of four-year colleges and universities
To prepare students for SAT & ACT college entrance exams/AP exams
To increase students' college/career awareness
To assist students in the college application and FAFSA process
To provide students with knowledge of scholarships and financial aid opportunities for college
To provide students with personal mentoring
