Dear Friends and Families,
Our second grade team is delighted to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year!
Our second-grade team consists of Jennifer Baroody, Shelby Chadwick, Caitlin Fitzpatrick, and Jala Tooley (ed. tech). We are excited to partner with you this year in your child's education. Our goal is to create a safe, enjoyable, and productive environment that will foster your student's curiosity and passion for learning.

There are a few items that each student needs individually (provided by families):
** Be sure to bring this item daily!
** We will notify parents when supplies are low and ask for additional donations. If your student is uncomfortable wearing the school provided headphones (these will not be shared), we ask that parents send in headphones for their child. Personal headphones will be returned at the end of the year. If you are unable to provide the above items, please contact your child’s teacher via email.
Students will have individual Supply Boxes to keep in their desks at school. Some items will be kept in individual pencil boxes and some will be shared. Listed below are items that are consumable. It is always helpful to have a supply to replenish when necessary. If you can donate any of these items, they would be greatly appreciated!
* Colorful Sharpie Markers
* Ticonderoga Pencils (pre-sharpened)
* Classic Crayola Markers (broad & thin line)
* Crayola Crayons
* Crayola Colored Pencils
* Elmer’s Glue Sticks
* Ziplock Bags (variety of sizes)
* Small containers of play-doh
* Pencil-Top Erasers and block erasers
* Sticky Notes (variety of sizes)
* Lined and unlined index cards
* Expo Markers (chisel tip-variety of colors and thin line black)
* Walmart & Amazon Gift Cards
Breakfast will be available in the school lobby each morning.
Lunch can be brought from home or purchased at school. You can find the monthly menu on the CRES website. Our lunchtime this year is from 12:40 - 1:10pm. Students will be eating in the cafeteria at this point in time.
Healthy Snacks and Water
We ask that parents send in a healthy snack each day along with a water bottle. Communal water fountains will not be an option this year; however, students can refill their water bottles. Our snack break this year is from 9:45 - 9:55 and will be outside when the weather permits.
Students will use a plastic folder that will go home each Friday. Teachers also communicate with families a lot through email. Please check your email daily.
We will be outdoors in all sorts of weather as long as the "feels like'' temperature is above zero degrees. It's important your child has the appropriate clothing for outdoor learning. In a large Ziploc bag, please send in an extra set of clothes, socks, and undergarments. Label the bag with your students first and last name. If we send clothing home to be washed, ensure new items are brought in the following day. We encourage you or your child to check in with the weather each morning and come prepared with “gear” to be comfortable outside.
Have your child bring two extra masks in a ziploc bag each day in their backpack. Classroom teachers will have some masks on hand for students to use as needed. A clean mask must be worn each day and all dirty or used masks should be taken home to be washed. We will have scheduled mask breaks throughout the day. Masks are optional to wear when outside at this point in time.
Parent Morning Drop-Off
Students can only enter the school playground when the playground gate is open and a duty teacher is present, beginning at 7:30 am. Students must stay with a guardian until 7:30 am. Classrooms are not open until 7:40 am and children may arrive up until 8:00 am- 8:00 am is when school begins and that is when your child is considered Tardy.
Parent Afternoon Dismissal
Second-grade students being picked-up will be dismissed at 2:30 pm. If a second-grade student has a sibling in kindergarten, first grade or multi-age then they will be dismissed at 2:20 pm. Students riding the bus home will also be dismissed at 2:30 pm. A parent/guardian note must accompany any changes to a student's dismissal plan, e.g., your student will be pick-up by a designated person rather than take the bus home. If a change occurs during the day, please call or email the main office, as teachers do not readily access email throughout the school day.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to your student's classroom teacher with any questions, helpful pieces of information, celebrations, or concerns. Know that we are in this together. WE'VE GOT THIS!
