Assignment 1, Props for monochrome still life
Lab
Discussion: Review of exposure concerns, limits, techniques and creative uses in digital photography.
Demonstration: Review of Tethered Shooting and Capture One workflow for adjusting files.
Look at Lucas Blalock, Laura Letinsky, Taryn Simon, Second Video, Sharon Core
Studio: Students break into groups and use a tethered workflow to photograph a Monochrome Still Life or scene to focus on controlling exposure through the lighting, camera operations and software processing.
Photograph a still life using only monochrome objects of differing luminance and reflectance, and create an image with a full dynamic range. This can help the students to understand exposure as shadows and reflected light.
