Title: PROBING GRAVITY THROUGH LIGHT BENDING.
Abstract: The gravitational deflection of light is a key phenomenon for testing gravitational theories. Based on this phenomenon, and by applying the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to the optical metric, we recently proposed a novel method called \emph{angular difference}. This method, based on constructing polygons bounded by null geodesics, was introduced to compute light deflection in non-asymptotically flat spacetimes. Building on this approach, we apply the technique to analyze the angular difference in null geodesic triangles, providing a systematic way to extend the definition of the deflection angle. In this thesis, we present and explore this method in detail, demonstrating its application to various gravitational models, starting with general relativity and then applying it to the modified gravity theories known as Einsteinian cubic gravity and Horndeski gravity. Our results highlight how this framework allows us to identify the specific contributions of these gravity models, distinguishing them from general relativity.
