2020-Covid-19-Time-Capsule-US_o7igbf.pdf Welcome to our class! My name is Angela Van Deven. I teach 3rd and 4th grade special education. This is my 10th year teaching at Fisher Grade School. Before I moved to central Illinois, I taught special education in Addison. I graduated from NEIU in Chicago. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I will earn my Master's degree in Multiple and Severe Disabilities May 2026.
I have been married to my husband, Bob, for 15 years, we have a 14 year old daughter, Mackenzie, and a 12 year old daughter, Gianna. Bob & I enjoy spending time with our children, family & friends going on adventures, helping at church, volunteer work, traveling, and watching our kids' sports events. I also love to tutor afte school and in the summer.
This year is going to be full of learning new experiences and I do my best to help your child achieve his or her educational goals. I love helping students achieve their goals while working with any disabilities that he or she may have. I am excited to share this year with your child and work closely with their 3rd & 4th grade teachers to have a successful year.
"I had to train myself to focus my attention. I became very visual and learned how to create mental images in order to comprehend what I read.” -Tom Cruise, Actor
“I didn’t succeed despite my dyslexia, but because of it. It wasn’t my deficit, but my advantage. Although there are neurological trade-offs that require that I work creatively [and] smarter in reading, writing and speaking, I would never wish to be any other way than my awesome self. I love being me, regardless of the early challenges I had faced.” -Scott Sonnen, Professional Athlete
"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it." -Michael Jordan
