Welcome to the Feilding Intermediate School Sports one stop shop.

You will find all the information you need about the Sports Teams we offer here: from letters of interest to sports' draws. This is a developing system so if you have any feedback or suggestions, please contact Jodi - Sports Co-Ordinator: jmurray@fis.school.nz.

Our Aim for Sports: Full participation, a chance to experience different sporting options, develop a healthy competitive nature, learning communication skills, co-ordination, increase self confidence and decision making within a team environment or individual sport with an opportunity to connect with, interact and develop new friendships with similar thinking peers. Enjoy being involved in an extra curricular activity for increased fitness levels and healthy lifestyle and simply for the pleasure of the sport. Some may use this medium to highlight their great untapped talent.

The process for participating in sports (parents please take note):

As each sports competition is organised for the year, the sports coordinator will:

  1. Notify parents about upcoming registrations via this website.
  2. Create a Google form on the website where you can register your child's interest.
  3. Collate expressions of interest, and where enough interest is gathered, organise and register teams to participate.
  4. Email confirmed sports' teams and contact details.

A note to parents...

Ensure you register your child via the Website. Once your child is a part of a team, please regularly visit the Blog for updates, draws, cancellations and any other important notices. Also please inform your coach or manager immediately if any of your contact information changes, or if you know your child will be absent from a game or practice. These responsibilities are also a big part of your child's learning about team play alongside commitment and fair play as well as the skills of the game.

We also recommend strongly that you have a look at the entire school year when planning your child's participation in sport. We offer an amazing scope of opportunities for our children, which are exciting and appealing for our children. Some considerations for you are:

  1. Player fees cannot be refunded after team registration is complete. Fees are determined based on the number of players signed up. Therefore, please ensure you are fully aware of season game dates to avoid any possible conflicts before committing to a sport.
  2. If you have missed the deadline or have registered only to find a team already complete, please ensure we have your completed registration form and your child will be placed on a waiting list. We will do our best to ensure every child has the opportunity to play. At times, this may mean we combine with other local schools to create teams as this has worked very well in the past.
  3. Before signing up for a team, ensure your child is committed to fully participating in the sport so as to not let team mates down by withdrawing at some point in the season. This can occur, for example, when sports occasionally overlap.
  4. If you are willing to coach or manage a sports team, please contact the Sports Coordinator. Our school sports teams rely on the dedication of our school community and parents to coach and manage our sports teams.
