I would like a wooden slant board for the athletic training room that athletes can use to do rehab exercises and stretch with.
I'm thinking of a 30° slant board. The screenshot has the angle and size of the triangle, 9"x18"x15.588". I'm thinking the actual surface should be 24" wide. It could hopefully support up to 120kgs. The video below is an example of a slant board.

I love my fruit smoothies in the morning but I am always the first one out of bed and my smoothie maker is very loud. My family complains it wakes them up. I am wondering if a sound barrier could be made to decrease or muffle the sound from the maker.
I would want it to be as small as possible, as effective as possible, and a way to reach the buttons when the sound muffler is pn.

I teach a sustainability course for the middle school elective and I also teach German across multi-aged groups starting with pre-primary and up through Grade 8. I have a German classroom and really need flexible furniture that would be better suited for both purposes, sustainability and German. Right now I always have to get sewing machines out and set them up, rather than having a working space for them. I do not have a large space for cutting cloth or a storage place for the fabric and odds and ends that we use in the sustainability course, hot glue guns, extension cords, etc. I would love to have flexible work space that can be quickly pulled out and set up for students, and then pushed away or hidden away for when I am teaching German or not in the room. I will add a picture of my space, and an idea I have seen that might work, but am totally open to ideas. If it was set up with electricity that would be awesome! Then we could move it to the hallway or bistro and other places to work.
I would love something like the dream craft box (https://thebrandbox.de/en/products/brandbox-craft?srsltid=AfmBOooPLNMDnPUp-cu_nImSGo73jPEzYML86f5ZOWxkMeIsdxTrUozA) where everything is stored and where a workspace can be created for multiple students to be actively sewing and creating at the same time, but the box seems to be for an individual, not multple students.
Note: I cannot teach in the DT/Steam/art space during the middle school elective because there are already 3 classes taking place during that same time period (double block).

We have approx 250 stones (painted on both sides) reflecting the 'me' and the 'we' story from various colleagues from both school campuses and all divisions. We are looking for a solution to display these stones sustainably with the opportunity for community members to be able to scan a QR code to read the stories of the stones.
Attached are the pictures of the stones and currently how we have displayed a small portion at Head of School office

I am in need of a Marching Machine for a piece we are playing. They aren't available very widely and most people just make their own.
Here's what it looks like from a webpage about a band director making one for himself: https://www.scottwatsonmusic.com/compositions/band-grade-2-3/marching-machine
I was just wondering if this is something that could be a class project?
If it's not something that looks interesting as a class assignment (or you just don't want to do it, no worries from me) would I be able to use some of the school equipment to put it together myself?
Just FYI, I would need this sooner rather than later so that we can practice with it before our concert on December 2nd.

We have been visiting the big insect hotel in the forest and observing it but haven't seen anything. We have lots of ideas of where the bees are like that they are off having babies or trick or treating. It would be great if we can have one here we can have ownership of - add the materials, watch, and learn. We just need the structure!

We have many pairs of sunglasses in our household. We tend to keep them in our drawer near the front door. This causes them to get scratched by the other items that are in the drawers like keys, pens and other general items. I would like a relatively small but stylish, designed functional product that could store these sunglasses in an interesting way.

I share my room with two other teachers. We have a small room, and those teachers have no space to put their teaching items (like extra handouts, etc). I end up cleaning up a lot of scraps and things left behind. I'd liek to have a system where they can keep their stuff. Like the attached A3 paper stacking thing, but this time it would have 5 levels: one for my 6th grade, one for my 7th grade, one for my 8th grade, one for Mariko's ELA, and one for Vafa's 6th grade class. It could be vertical, or horizontal. But some sort of organizational system for a shared classroom with three teachers.

As you may know we offer pickleball in the Stroth Gym on Tuesday nights, but the PE nets we’re using are too low compared to the official height. So far, we’ve tried quick fixes (like foam batons), but they fall off whenever the ball hits the net.
Your challenge: Design and build a simple extender that can attach to the existing net system and raise it to the correct pickleball height. It should be:
Easy to attach and remove
Stable (doesn’t fall off when the ball hits the net)
Durable for repeated use
Pictures are included to show the current setup. We’d love your creative solutions—your design could make a big difference for our school’s pickleball games

I have noticed that the stairway by our offices is exceptionally loud and is like an echo chamber which adds to the sense of chaos. I wonder if some kids could design some sculptures that would be allowed to be installed on the walls and or ceiling to combat this issue. For inspiration:

We trialed a few ways to help the big tri-fold boards stand up outside and it was somewhat successful, but they often fell down in the back. If there are ways to hold these up in windy conditions, I would welcome some ideas. The only thing is that the Activity fair will be on Sept. 11, so this is tight for timing, but could be trialed for next year?
The 3d side holders did work, but the boards were a bit thicker than the small holders to fit and they were light weight. I can show you what they looked like. It is more about some kind of weight to hold them steady.

I require a secure, multi-layered storage box to ensure the robot's safety and easy to move. The lower compartment should be designed specifically for storing the robot, while the upper section should include two to three drawers with separate compartments to organize and store various components efficiently. This structure will provide both protection and organization, ensuring all necessary parts are securely stored and easily accessible.

All the desks in the room have "brakes" that totally DO NOT work. When you put them on, they just don't keep the desks from rolling. This causes the desks to roll around the room, and is a real pain. On a scale of 1-10, this is an 11!

We could really use another instrument storage cart (for cellos and violins), like the one that the 2 students made for us a couple of years ago.
During all of the cafeteria construction we started using the cart in the E.S. junior lounge. It's turned out to be very helpful to have there for the younger students to leave their instruments when they arrive at school. This means, though, that I don't have the cart in my classroom anymore, and I really miss it! It was so helpful to have it in my room for flexible storage.
We'd really appreciate it if anyone is still looking for a project and is interested.

DT constructed a rolling rack for double basses a while back, and we wanted to ask if it could be modified. Firstly, it's too big for the storage room so if it could be made smaller to fit just two basses, that would be amazing. Also, one of that castor wheels is broken, so it doesn't really roll well.
Here's a photo, it's sitting in the round area outside the band room at the moment.
Let me know if this is something DT could take care of, thanks!
All best

We would love a light table for the classroom to explore various materials and science principles. It would be great if the table could be round but it is not necessary. Approx. 65cm diameter or if square 60 x 60cm. Under should be some storage space for a few boxes. Height about 40cm (so kids can sit or kneel while using it). Thanks!

Kids stationary - pencils, markers, erasers etc - always end up messy in a box. We would like the DT students to design and create a wooden stationery holder for our classroom. The kids sitting at each table are sharing the stationary. We have 6 tables in Ms Gabby's Grade 1 classroom. We would like the DT students to design and create if possible 6 wooden stationery holders for our classroom. The holder should include the following features:
- 1 compartments for 6 children's scissors (14 cm long).
- 1 compartment for 4-6 glue sticks.
- 1 compartment for 30 thick colored pencils (used in Grade 1).
- 1 compartment for 10 regular pencils and 10 thin black markers together
A lower compartment for a few erasers and 2 sharpeners.
The design should ensure that all items are neatly organized and easily accessible.
Thank you and please let me know if you'd like further adjustments!

I am looking for sturdy storage containers or organizers for classroom supplies (markers, erasers, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, rulers, scissors, etc.) that allow students quick and easy access in their table groups. The organizers should accommodate various item sizes and fit easily on a desk. I’ve attached a picture of the containers we’ve used in the past, but none have fully solved the storage issue.

Science
Resonance of chladni plates and circular resonance. In science we have a vibration generator and have tried to make these in the past but they are not good enough to get consistent results. We would need someone to build a plate and loop and an attachment system that is good at transferring the vibrations to the system. I think it would take a lot of trial and error in working out which type of wire would be best for the loop. Too stiff and you do not get the higher levels of resonance. Too bendy and the wire permanently demorms and you do not get a clear pattern.

I think it would be great for design students to see how their projects can make a positive change in our world. I was wondering if you are interested in having your design classes take part?
