Newsletter Week: September 2, 2025
This Week:
Students are doing really well on their MAP testing! I know it takes a lot out of them, but they are being real troopers! Our students do test for a 2-hour time period, but we take lots of breaks during that block of time! One more test to go next week!
Next Week: September 8, 2025
Monday - First full week! Out of uniform - email sent
Tuesday - MAP testing - math
Wednesday - Library day!
Thursday - mass at 8:35 am
Friday -
Side Notes:
Classroom fees are $50. Please turn that in as soon as possible. Thank you to those who have already done so!
MAP testing next week - one more test to go! Please ensure your student gets enough sleep and has breakfast. These tests are two hours of quiet, so if they finish, I am going to have them make sure they are caught up in all red folder work, and then they are welcome to read an actual book (no more screen time) or we will have fun packets available as well.
Keep sending in two snacks daily! We are the cool grade at SMS that has a second snack for the day!
The Religion series has been revamped, and each chapter is now longer. I do not want to rush through the chapter just to have a test, so most likely, students will only be doing an in-class chapter test, which will also be open-book. I'd rather they have the information and understand it as best as possible than worry about getting a test grade.
The Little Red Schoolhouse field trip is on Wednesday, October 15, for our class. I will be taking 3A on Tuesday. More details to follow soon!
I sent home my extra credit opportunities for Social Studies today, but they are not due until October 15. I wanted to give you ample time and not rush anyone!
Students may be out of uniform on Monday if they follow a certain criterion. In support of the canonization of Blesseds Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati, students may wear red or green tops with out uniform bottoms; otherwise normal uniform is to be worn.
From Mrs. Bateson: ELA and Health/Science
Reading - We will still be working through Unit 1 and doing some assessments to figure out each student’s strengths and weaknesses. We will also begin to work on opinion writing and writing a paragraph. We will slowly start to introduce and learn cursive. We will begin with all of the lowercase letters and then move on to uppercase. Please do not teach your child these letters at home. We will all be learning using the Zaner Bloser workbook that we have and it is much easier if we are all working through the letters together.
Health - We will be wrapping up chapter 1. There will not be a test. We will then start chapter 3, which is titled Keeping My Body Fit.
