Excavation of the swale began on May 10 and installation of trees and rain garden plants concluded on June 7. Excavation work was conducted by Helms & Sons Excavating, and plant installation by Davey Tree Expert Company. Raingarden depth is below the water table, which allows the bottom of the swale to be inundated with water. Water levels will be kept at the lowest level while plant root systems become established, and later, water levels will be controlled by adding or removing risers to a control box. Weather conditions have been hot and humid since work was completed, and afternoon showers and storms have helped keep soil moist while plants become established.
