Location: Hybrid – based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Hours: 5–15 hours per week

The Research Assistant will support ongoing research, knowledge mobilization and community engagement projects related to Indigenous mental health, wellness, and life promotion. This position requires a candidate located in the Greater Toronto Area, as some in-person meetings, events, or gatherings will occur throughout the project.
The ideal candidate is passionate about Indigenous community development and holistic health and brings strong skills in organization, communication, and relationship building.
Assist with literature reviews, data analysis, and synthesis of findings on Indigenous mental health and wellness.
Support development and facilitation of community engagement activities (e.g., sharing circles, interviews, gatherings).
Contribute to the preparation of reports, briefs, and knowledge-sharing materials.
Maintain organized project documentation and ensure data handling aligns with OCAP® and Indigenous data sovereignty principles.
Collaborate with team members to ensure all research activities are culturally safe, ethical, and community-led.
Background in Indigenous Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Community Development, or a related field.
Understanding of Indigenous mental health, wellness, and life promotion frameworks.
Experience with qualitative or community-based research is an asset.
Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

The Research Assistant will support ongoing research, knowledge mobilization and community engagement projects related to Indigenous early learning, education, and disability inclusion. This position is hybrid, applicants must reside in Ontario and be available for online meetings during regular business hours and occasional in-person meetings and events. This position includes occasional travel within Ontario.
The successful candidate will support research, data collection, and community engagement activities aimed at improving culturally grounded and inclusive education for Indigenous children, families, and communities.
Conduct literature reviews and assist with research synthesis on Indigenous early learning, inclusive education, and disability-affirming approaches.
Support data collection through interviews, focus groups, and community engagement sessions.
Assist with report writing, knowledge translation materials, and presentations.
Ensure adherence to ethical protocols and Indigenous research principles, including OCAP® and community ownership.
Work collaboratively with community partners, Elders, educators, and families to support culturally relevant learning and inclusion.
Background in Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Disability Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Knowledge of Indigenous pedagogies, inclusive education, or disability-affirming practices.
Experience with qualitative and/or community-based research methodologies is an asset.
Strong writing, organization, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and respectfully within Indigenous contexts.
