A Message From Me-
Hello! My name is Mrs. Sorensen, and I am SO excited to be your English or Drama teacher this year! I became a teacher because I love working with kids more than anything in the world. As a former graduate of FHS, I deeply love this community and staff and could not imagine working anywhere else. While English and Drama classes were always my favorite in school, I know that is not the case for everyone. My goal is to make English/Drama classes relevant, useful, and engaging for my students and to help equip them with vital skills in writing, reading, and verbal communication that will assist them in future college or career opportunities. Ultimately, I truly believe these words from the film Dead Poets Society: "Words and ideas can change the world." We will explore the words and ideas of numerous authors and poets and, most importantly, engage in discussions in which we share our own views and ideas about humanity and the world around us. I cannot wait to work with you this year!
About Me - Did You Know?
This is my seventh year teaching at FHS.
I am married to the former FHS music teacher, and we have 3 crazy samoyeds that I call "the floofs."
I own and direct the local Neverland Theater company.
I got my teaching degree from the University of Puget Sound (Go, Loggers!)
I love all kinds of movies, music, and TV shows (and I'm always up for your recommendations!)
While I have assisted with FHS Drama productions for over 11 years now, this school year marks my first fourth as Drama Club Advisor.
I have a huge list of places I want to visit on my bucket list, and I love to hear about my students' travel adventures. My current favorite place is New Orleans.
I helped charter the inaugural chapter of the International Thespian Society at Fife High School in 2023, and we are now a Gold Honor Troupe!
