Additional communication
We offer Title I/LAP family/caregiver education events. The purpose of these events is to provide families/caregivers with information about how to help students in both reading and math. These meeting dates will be posted on Discovery’s website when scheduled and also communicated through ParentSquare. Information and materials from the event are sent home in case families/caregivers are unable to attend.
Families/caregivers are encouraged to meet with the Title I/LAP staff at any time to discuss the program and decisions related to their student’s needs. Contact may be made by family/caregiver or school in any of the following ways: ParentSquare, letter or note, phone call, email, face to face meeting, or through the classroom teacher.
Other communication
Families/caregivers are asked for suggestions about further content for the Title I/LAP web pages.
The Title I/LAP pages on the website will be introduced during Student-Led Conferences.
The school will provide interpreters, at no cost to families/caregivers, whenever possible to make sure families/caregivers are able to communicate in a way that is easiest for them.
Families/Caregivers help plan and revise
The Family/Caregiver Advisory Committee, which consists of any family/caregiver who wishes to join, will meet in June to review the Title I/LAP compact and Family/Caregiver Involvement Plan and recommend changes. Families/caregivers can give input in person, via Parent Square, by phone, letter, or e-mail. Input is for the following year’s plan and compact.
In addition to the Family/Caregiver Advisory Committee, a program survey will be sent out to all families/caregivers of Title I/LAP students in spring of each year. Survey comments will be used to make improvements to the program the following year.
Families/Caregivers are informed of progress and expectations:
A Title I/LAP compact for each student will be signed at program entry through ParentSquare or during Student-Led Conferences. A student learning goal will be communicated during the conference.
Families/Caregivers receive testing results with an explanation of the measures and scores in October, January, and June.
Families/Caregivers participate in decisions
Families/Caregivers may request meetings at any time to discuss a student’s progress or to make revisions in that student’s program. Additionally, opportunities for this are provided at Student-Led Conferences and the family/caregiver education event.
Title I/LAP Staff Work Together with Families/Caregivers to Develop a Top-Quality Program
Family/Caregiver suggestions are always welcomed. Title I/LAP staff will do their best to incorporate any suggestions that will make a better program for all participating students.
