Emotions

Students had to express an emotion while painting in monochrome (one color). They could change the value of the color with black, white and gray. Color psychology was discussed so the color they chose helped to express the emotion as well.

Exaggerated Figures

After looking at the work of Giacometti, a Swiss artist known for gaunt, emotional figure sculptures, students tried their hand at it. Their figures had to express an emotion.

This project was done during the complete shut down.

The names were left off on purpose because some students didn't feel comfortable sharing their feelings in public.

The emotion I am trying to portray is finding one-self and blooming

Waiting and boredom. I had a very large watch to signify time.

I am trying to show you sadness, tiredness, and pain through my design

I tied to make the person look slumped like hes carrying a great weight. The arms and the "hands" are like the amount and weight of things going on.

I tried to show it like the hand is someone looking at the world and seeing that I am on top of it because this pandemic is hard but I’ve benefited a lot because of it. Such as school I have all A’s and in school I’ve never had that so my education and how good I am doing makes me feel on top of the world.

The power of music. In the first figure they are stressed and balled up with only their own thoughts and then once you add the headphones (the music) you become alive and ready to conquer.

A gigantic hole where the face should be representing emptiness.

I showed the emotion by being skinny and giving a prop ball and chain for lack of fulfillment from being trapped. Tape to signify broken. Very skinny and has tape, as well as ball and chain, also face and feet are asymmetrical.

Advanced Art

Landscapes

Advanced Art students reviewed ways of showing depth in a landscape and then got creative by using arbitrary colors...colors that don't have to make sense.

"I'll remember all the interesting and different media we got to use to create our projects, I never would've thought to use foil to sculpt or to use quills to create an art."
