🔹 Starla Thompson, Founder, Walks with Good Heart & US Dept of Justice 904 Task Force Member
Starla (Waben Gizhek Kwé — First Light That Breaks the Night Woman) is an enrolled citizen of the Forest County Potawatomi Nation, member of the Otter Clan, and founder of Walks With a Good Heart, LLC. She is a leader with Waking Women Healing Institute, an Indigenous and survivor-led organization addressing the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S), and serves on the U.S. Department of Justice 904 Task Force. Drawing from her lived experience as a survivor, along with her background in Indigenous policy, advocacy, and traditional knowledge, Starla works to advance justice, strengthen community healing and protection, and uplift Indigenous voices.
🔹 Jenny Almquist – Co-Founder, Fierce Freedom
Jenny will share about how her experiences running an anti-trafficking organization led to a shift in more sustainable, restful rhythms that she wants others in the fight against injustice to practice within their own spheres of influence.
🔹 Kati Ann Dussl – Ganawenindiwag (DVSA) Program Manager, St Croix Tribal Human Services
Kati Ann is a dedicated advocate for social justice and survivor support, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to her work. Kati Ann currently serves as the Program Manager for the St. Croix Tribe’s Ganawenindiwag Program (domestic violence/sexual assault advocacy). With a bachelor's degree in psychology, Kati Ann has a profound understanding of human behavior, trauma, and mental health, which is further enriched by her personal experience as a domestic and sexual violence survivor. Throughout her career, Kati Ann has been actively involved in advocacy work, including assistance with training Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE nurses).

We were so disappointed to have to cancel our July 15 Eau Freedom Fun Run & Fest, but in light of the historic smoke and health risks, we’re also grateful we made the right decision for our community.
