Career Technical Education Pathways
CAREER PATHWAYS
Forest Grove High School offers a wide range of Career and Technical Education or CTE courses that allow students to be exposed to life skills and career opportunities. The Oregon Department of Education encourages students to participate in CTE courses citing research showing students who take two or more credits of CTE courses have a higher likelihood of graduating on time. CTE participants are also more prepared to further their education or training in their field, or more directly into the workforce.
Students who complete all required courses in a pathway will be recognized at graduation with a cord representing the pathway(s) they completed. Please note that a minimum of 2.0 credits with a C or better is required to receive pathway endorsement, unless otherwise noted.
What are the benefits of completing a career pathway?
Differentiates a student from others of equal qualification when applying for trade school or college.
Differentiates a student from others of equal qualification when competing for scholarships.
Differentiates a student from others when applying for employment due to real job site experience.
Provides exposure to a wide variety of experiences that help student make an educated decision about his/her post-high school career path.
Provides students with industry-specific skills and knowledge, increasing immediate earning potential.
It is the policy of the Forest Grove Board of Education and School District that there will be no discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, color, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age or disability in any educational programs, activities or employment. Persons having questions about equal opportunity and nondiscrimination should contact the Assistant Superintendent at the District Office, 503-359-2430 or TDD 503-359-2518.
All Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in this school district are open to all students. The District will take steps to assure that the lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in CTE programs.
