About our Northwest Community Center
We provide free peer-based support for individuals finding their path to recovery and wellness. Each center offers peer-led mutual aid meetings and support groups, social community events, and ongoing training opportunities such as life skills, QPR suicide prevention, Narcan, etc. We collaborate with community partners and link individuals to treatment, programs, and community resources.
We are a Northwest rural school-based Mental Health Initiative partner with the towns of Scituate, Foster, and Glocester. We engage parents in accessing services and supports needed for their child at risk of or with mental health challenges so that they can thrive in school, home, and community.

The History of The Autism Project
The Autism Project has evolved significantly since 1997, but our core identity remains the same: we are a collaboration of parents, professionals, and community members dedicated to providing high-quality and accessible support, training, and programming for children, their families, and the professionals who work with them.
Though we focus on children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), we've also learned over the years that many of the supports and strategies that work well for children with ASD can be beneficial for all. Today, The Autism Project offers services and programs for children with ASD, developmental delays and disabilities, and social-emotional challenges, and their families and communities.

Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, & Hospitals (https://bhddh.ri.gov/)
The Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH) works to guarantee high-quality, safe and accessible health care services through an integrated healthcare landscape in which all Rhode Islanders will thrive.
Rhode Island's ABLE Account is a savings program designed for individuals with disabilities. Here's a brief overview:
Purpose: ABLE stands for Achieving a Better Life Experience. These accounts allow people with disabilities to save money without losing eligibility for certain public benefits programs, like Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Eligibility: Generally, individuals who developed a disability before age 26 can open an ABLE account.
Tax advantages: Contributions to ABLE accounts grow tax-free, and withdrawals are tax-free when used for qualified disability expenses.
Contribution limits: There are annual contribution limits, which may change from year to year.
Qualified expenses: Funds can be used for various disability-related expenses, including education, housing, transportation, health care, and more.
State-specific: While Rhode Island has its own ABLE program, residents can choose to open an account in any state that accepts out-of-state residents.
