Festo is the Managing Partner at Festo & Co. Advocates. He is an Advocate of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda, Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public appointed by the Chief Justice of Uganda.

Festo has gained a wealth of experience in in-house and external corporate-legal matters, taxation law, profit and non-profit law, corporate governance and board affairs, regulatory matters of legal persons, real and intellectual property law, company law, corporate finance, employment law among other legal practice areas.

He holds a Bachelors in Laws degree with honours from Uganda Christian University, Mukono and Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Bar Course) from the Law Development Centre, Kampala. He is also a candidate of Master of Laws in Oil and Gas from the Institute of Petroleum Studies, Kampala.

Festo began his legal practice career in 2013, trained with Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in the Chambers of the Attorney General of Uganda, Department of Civil Litigation, which provides legal advisory services to the Government of Uganda, ministries, departments and some agencies.

From November 2013 to August 2019, he worked with Birungyi, Barata & Associates the leading tax litigation and advisory law firm in Uganda. The firm is also a top tier commercial law firm and legal services provider in Uganda. There he worked as a Legal Associate and grew through the ranks to position of Advocate. He represented clients, local and international in all kinds of legal matters. He represented clients before the Tax Appeals Tribunal, courts of judicature such as Magistrates Courts, High Court and Court of Appeal.

He also worked as Legal Officer on Secondment to Uganda Health Marketing Group an indigenous non-profit NGO. As Legal Officer in 2015 he specifically provided legal support to the closure of the USAID – AFFORD Marketing Initiative Project worth USD 34m after five (5) years of implementation in Uganda. He also served as Senior Legal Officer in 2017 supporting donor projects such as commencement and operationalizing of the USAID – Social Marketing Activity (SMA) project worth USD 24m. He also supported several other projects under the World Bank, United Nations Population Fund, John Hopkins University and Harvard University.

Festo is committed to continuous learning and professional development by attending international courses, specialized training in commercial law, legal project management, taxation, audit, management strategies for persons and resources, corporate governance, basics of public – private partnerships, creating and managing social enterprises, understanding climate change, public health and renewable energy among others.
