The E.S. Killie Scholarship was established in 1978 by the Fessenden Education Association to honor former Superintendent E.S. Killie. Mr. Killie served the Fessenden School District as Superintendent from 1933-1968.
Over the years, many groups from the community have helped in offering this scholarship. The award is dedicated to someone who spent his life helping others get their education. Mr. Killie’s hope was that all students share the benefits of their education by helping others. He quotes in his scholarship message “a basic education is the foundation for all learning. Once understanding is achieved, wisdom can follow. Your education is always with you – what you do with it is very important.”
Each year, the $1,000.00 scholarship is given to one deserving Fessenden-Bowdon School graduate. Funds are raised through the "Sweats for Scholars" and "Scores for Scholars" fundraisers, as well as privately given memorials and donations.
