The transition from third grade to fourth grade marks a significant period of growth and development for students. Here are some of the academic expectations for 4th graders.

Reading/Writing: Reading comprehension deepens, and students are expected to analyze texts more critically. They encounter a wider variety of genres, including non-fiction and poetry. Writing becomes more sophisticated, with multi-paragraph essays, research projects, and creative writing assignments. 

Math: Fourth graders delve into more advanced multiplication and division, often dealing with larger numbers. They study fractions and decimals more intensively, learn about factors and multiples, and begin to understand geometry concepts like angles and symmetry.

 Curriculum: The curriculum becomes more challenging and integrated, with higher expectations for independent work and critical thinking. Students are expected to take more responsibility for their learning, complete longer-term projects, and participate in more in-depth discussions.
