About Mrs. Frisk

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Information Systems from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. My single subject teaching credential was earned at California State University, Northridge.  I am authorized to teach mathematics, business, computer science, biology, social sciences, and introductory science. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Educational Technology at California State University, East Bay, and will complete my Masters in May of 2024.

My teaching career began in 1999 when I left the states to teach English as a Foreign Language in South Korea.  What an experience to fully immerse one's self in another, spectacular culture!  Loving my experience teaching in South Korea, I quickly secured a job teaching mathematics and computers at Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles where I was awarded the "Most Inspirational Teacher" title.  After 5 years teaching at Van Nuys it was difficult to leave, but the beauty of Humboldt County stole my heart.

Since arriving in Humboldt County in 2005, I have taught mathematics and computers in Eureka City Schools and Ferndale Unified. In 2010, I began teaching mathematics at Ferndale High School where I quickly became fond of the students and community. I was also fortunate to coach cheerleading during the 2010-2011 football and basketball seasons and even taught art one year.

I spend my spare time with my husband, Levi, and our dog.  Together we love to go hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, river rafting, canoeing, snowboarding, and travel on as many adventures as we can.  Throughout my life I have been blessed to be able to travel extensively and experience cultures around the world.  Places I have visited include Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico.  How's my Spanish you ask? It still needs some work.  I have also visited Thailand, England, Scotland, and the Netherlands in addition to traveling around the US every chance I get.

Here is the "About Me" presentation I give to the class on the first day of school.
