STEAM High Library


Nikki Giovanni was one of the best known Black American poets of our time. She was also an activist and an educator. Her works include subjects about race, gender, sex, politics and love. She attended Fisk University, Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania. She has received numerous awards and retired from Virginia Tech University after 35 years as a professor in the Department of English. She succumbed her battle with cancer December 9, 2024 at the age of 81. Her beautiful poetry will live forever.
