Roles available
[JIM FINGAL] - Male presenting, early to mid 20s. Fledgling fact checker, hired by Editor-in-Chief Emily Penrose to comb through John D’Agata’s essay for inaccuracies before it can be published the following Monday. However, the essay is riddled with half-truths and embellishments, making it unfit to print. Jim is just doing his job, but the writer refuses to listen to reality and fix his mistakes.
[JOHN D'AGATA] - Male presenting, 40s and up. Renowned essayist. Jim is all too happy to label John’s artistic liberties as inaccuracies, which is completely missing the point; John is portraying something greater than mere truth, and he chafes against Jim’s criticism.
[EMILY PENROSE] - Female presenting, 40s and up. Seasoned Editor-in-Chief of an illustrious but struggling New York magazine. When Emily reads John D’Agata’s essay, she recognizes it as a piece that could save the publication from financial ruin. She hires Jim Fingal to fact-check the essay before it goes to print the following Monday, but what should be a quick job is taking longer than expected, and the clock is ticking…
Auditions Information for FVP presents "Blood Relations"
Directed by Victoria Stratton
Blood Relations is a psychological murder mystery based on historical fact and speculation surrounding the life of Lizzie Borden and the murders of her father and stepmother, crimes with which Borden was arrested for, though acquitted from and found not guilty.
Auditions: December 8 - 9, 2025 at 7:00 pm
Performances: February 20 - March 1, 2026
Roles available:
Lizzie Borden is the protagonist of the play. Here, she is living alone with her sister and carrying on an affair with The Actress, who comes down from Boston to visit her. She is very squirrelly and ambiguous about her part in her parents' murders, even though everyone believes that she did it. In the reenactment of the past that she does with the Actress, she plays Bridget, the Irish maid who worked for the Bordens.
Lizzie, as portrayed by the Actress, is insecure, depressive, and driven mad by her mistreatment at the hands of her father and stepmother. She worries that she will be robbed of all of her inheritance and desperately wants independence even though that is virtually impossible for a woman at this time. She does not wish to marry and has always worried that she is not ladylike enough.
Bridget is played by the real Lizzie Borden in the play. In the play, she is presented as the maid of the Bordens, someone who is more sympathetic to Lizzie's plight than anyone in Lizzie's family. As portrayed by Lizzie, she is kind-hearted and pure-intentioned, not wanting to sell Lizzie out, but also worried about the consequences of the murder.
The Actress is an actress from Boston who comes to visit Lizzie in Fall River, and with whom she is alleged to be having an affair. She is a little afraid of Lizzie, and Lizzie suggests that one of the reasons that the Actress even has a career is because of their relationship.
Dr. Patrick is a married Irish doctor with whom Lizzie strikes up a friendship. While everyone in town believes it to be an affair, and Dr. Patrick is ready to run away with her, Lizzie is only being his friend as a kind of game, a way of exhibiting her independent spirit. Dr. Patrick is smitten with Lizzie's independent and witty attitude, and likes talking to her.
Emma is Lizzie's older sister, who is rather meek and does not like to get in the middle of conflict. While she shares many of Lizzie's gripes with their father and stepmother, she does not want to rebel with the same ferocity that Lizzie does. After the deaths of their parents, Emma lives with Lizzie and often asks Lizzie if she did in fact kill their parents.
Mrs. Borden is Lizzie and Emma's stepmother. Lizzie and Emma have a very unhealthy relationship, and Lizzie absolutely hates her. Lizzie thinks that Mrs. Borden is jealous of the attention that Lizzie's father gives her, while Mrs. Borden judges Lizzie for being so unconventional and not seeking out a sensible marriage.
Mr. Borden is Lizzie's father, a man who is constantly torn between his wife's and Lizzie's wishes. He is very rich, and has a large estate, but is referred to as miserly and cheap throughout the play. He is scared of Lizzie, and while he feels great affection for her, wishes she would be more of a conformist and try and fit in with society. He is an abusive man, who is driven to hitting Lizzie and harming her beloved pigeons in order to prove his patriarchal dominance. In the contrast between his loving attitudes towards Lizzie and his violent abuse, Mr. Borden is a complicated antagonist.
Harry Wingate is Mrs. Borden's brother, an avaricious and lustful man who wants control over both Lizzie's body (he regularly sexually harasses her) and her estate, devising ways for himself and Mrs. Borden to gain custody of Mr. Borden's assets.

Khan!!! The Musical! is a gut-bustingly funny parody based on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek: The Next Generation with an entirely original score. It's fun for Trekkies, Broadway fans and "normies" alike, and you don't have to know anything about Star Trek to enjoy it!
THE CONCEPT: No Wait, the "KHAN"-cept.
In 2366, Data, the android, presents his musical comedy version of The Wrath of Khan with a cast of virtual actors on the Holodeck! A campy show-within-a-show ensues where the bloodthirsty Khan vows revenge on a washed up James T. Kirk and Data–portraying multiple roles–learns a thing or two about life along the way.
Auditions: TBD at 7:00 pm
Performances: June 5 - 14, 2026
Roles available:
[KIRK] 20s-50s, to play 50-55, male-presenting, BARI-TENOR to TENOR, A military space admiral with a fragile ego. The portrayal here can be a slightly exaggerated William Shatner, but not so intense that the characterization gets old.
[DATA] 20s-30s, to play 35, male-presenting, BARI-TENOR OR TENOR, A robotic android who hams it up onstage. It’s important to remember that he is the only real character who appears onstage (all other onstage characters are holographic simulations). So the closer he can look and sound to Brent Spiner’s original “Data,” the better. Also performs the following roles:
KOBAYASHI MARU CAPTAIN, 40: A posh British military officer barely keeping it together.
JOACHIM, 30: The son Khan never had. At first he may seem to be an unsophisticated dunderhead, but maybe he’s more clever than he looks and sounds.
PETER PRESTON, 17: Over-the-top cockney “Tiny Tim.” Cloyingly, aggressively adorable.
DAVID, 20: He’s a walking Shatner impersonation turned up to 11.
[KHAN] 20s-50s, to play 50-55, male-presenting, TENOR, A campy, scenery-chewing villain. This is not the Khan from the movie. Here, he’s campy, scenery-chewing, and can have fun with the audience. The actor must commit to Khan’s desires and plans just enough to preserve a sense of stakes, and perhaps menace.
[SPOCK / REDSHIRT] as SPOCK: 20s-50s,to play 50-55, male-presenting, BASS TO BARI-TENOR, A stoic half-human/half-alien with a touch of haughtiness, but his warmth and concern for others can be seen in subtle ways. As REDSHIRT: 20s-50s, to play 35 (VOCAL RANGE FLEXIBLE), He may seem confident at first, but he’s ultimately a bit dopey and ends up being pretty cowardly.
[SAAVIK] 20s-30s, female-presenting, to play 20, MEZZO OR SOPRANO, An awkward cadet/ingenue. Can be thought of as a high-strung musical theatre student who fully feels their feelings and craves the spotlight. Also fills in as a Khan Henchperson, and Spacelab crew member.
[COMMANDER SULU / CHEKOV] As SULU: 20s-50s, to play 50, BARITONE (OR ALTO), TRADITIONALLY ASIAN, The ship’s pilot; professional yet flamboyant. As CHEKOV: 20s-50s, to play 40, VOCAL RANGE FLEXIBLE, A dimwitted commander with a cartoonish Russian accent.
[BONES / SCOTTY] as BONES: 20s-50s, to play 60, RANGE FLEXIBLE (WRITTEN AS CONTRALTO-TO-MEZZO), A crotchety Southern doctor. As SCOTTY: 20s-50s, to play 50, MEZZO/ALTO FLEXIBLE, The ship’s engineer, Scottish accent. When the going gets tough, he takes his job very seriously and is good at it. Also fills in as a Khan Henchperson and a Spacelab crew member.
[COMMANDER UHURA / CAROL] as UHURA: 20s-50s, female-presenting, to play 45, MEZZO, TRADITIONALLY AFRICAN AMERICAN, A sardonic communications officer. She’s somewhat bored by this gig and sometimes acts as the sardonic voice of reason. Vocal riffing / gospel-style singing a plus. As CAROL: 20s-50s, female-presenting, to play 45, MEZZO-TO-SOPRANO FLEXIBLE, Kirk’s ex-girlfriend; tough yet warm. Also fills in as a Khan Henchperson.
