FES Student Council hosts several events for our students each school year. The following are just a few highlights:
Bullying Prevention Awareness
Each year FES participates in Blue Shirt Day: World Day of Bullying Prevention the first Monday in October. During that time, classroom guidance lessons are focused on empathy and bullying prevention lessons from Second Step's Bullying Unit. Check out the Stomp Out Bullying website for more information.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is a way for students to unite in making healthy choices and take a visible stand against substance abuse. Students show their personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle by participating in several Red Ribbon activities. This event is held the last week of October. More information can be found on the national Red Ribbon Week website.
Kindness Week
FES is a kindness certified school! Each year we participate in The Great Kindness Challenge, hosted by the non-profit organization Kids for Peace. The Great Kindness Challenge is a proactive and positive bullying prevention initiative that improves school climate and increases student engagement. For one week, students and staff are encouraged to perform as many acts of kindness as possible within our school grounds. This has led to thousands of acts of kindness happening right here at FES!
