Juan Pablo Torres-Martínez is a Full Professor at the University of Chile. His research focuses on economic theory, especially on topics of mechanism design, matching markets, and general equilibrium theory. Currently, he is interested in studying the extent and nature of coalitional manipulability in matching markets, and the endogenous determinants of financial market incompleteness. 

His articles have appeared in academic journals such as Econometrica, Theoretical Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior, Economic Theory, Journal of Mathematical Economics, and International Journal of Game Theory.

At the University of Chile, he served as Director of Research of the Faculty of Economics and Business and was Academic Director of the Ph.D. and M.A. programs in Economics. Previously, he was a faculty member at the Department of Economics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). A mathematician by education, he holds a Ph.D. in Science from IMPA, Brazil.
