Once my partner and I decided to create the task about Pixel art for 3rd ESO students in art class, we took into account the contents that we had previously learned in class, GEP 1, trying to include different types of activities and different inputs so students could follow easily all of them, we also used many ICT tools as our students have all of them their own Chromebook and use it for all their subjects.
Once implemented all the activities we had planned, I have to say that warm up activities are very significant because they are a good way of focusing the students’ attention in the task; introduction activities are also important and useful as they introduce the topic and provide students with the new vocabulary they are going to use and learn in the task. Something remarkable and that has been very successful was the fact to agree with the students the presentation’s checklist, this made them more conscious about the task while preparing their presentation.
Students have shown interest and great skills while using tools like tagul, padlet, socrative, and other websites in order to complete their activities. Working in groups through collaborative and cooperative activities has made sessions more interactive and has kept more students engaged and participative in all the activities making learning more amusing for them. Another remarkable thing has been the fact that this task has promoted creativity and has encouraged students to express their emotions and opinions through the activities.
I think this task has fostered students communication in English, I have observed students being more participative as they are in English lessons, using English without caring so much about being accurate but with the aim of communicating their opinions freely.
To conclude, I have to say I enjoyed implementing this task and I think students have learned, have had fun and have used the English language a lot.
