My name is Sarah Deters, this is my 18th year teaching. I have a husband, an 8.5 year old daughter, and a 5 year old son. I like to hang out with my family and watch movies or hockey.
I have a degree in History from Sac State and a Master's degree in Sport Psychology from JFK University. We spent about ten years in San Jose before returning to the Sacramento area after my daughter was born so we could be closer to family.
I have Celiac Disease. This means I cannot eat food that contains gluten(contained in wheat, rye, barley and some oats) without becoming extremely ill. I've had my diagnosis for 13 years. My husband is an amazing gluten free baker, and I've learned to cook all kinds of foods in a way that is safe for me to eat. My favorite local gluten free restaurant is Pushkin's and their family of bakeries.

The best thing we can do for ourselves is have a laugh each day. Whether I'm laughing at my hilarious kiddos being awesome, or watching NCIS or Schitt's Creek(for the 4th time) I love to have a bright spot in my day. My husband and I love watching all the Marvel things as well as cooking shows like America's Test Kitchen or Good Eats.

We love Disney in our house. Having a 5 and a 8 year old means we are getting to experience all sorts of Disney things all at once- Disney Jr. Shows, Disney Movies, and of course the parks. We love to go to Disney World. I think Disney is such a great way for families to bond.

I love hockey, it's by far my favorite sport. When I lived in San Jose I actually played in an all women's league(the one in the video). I played one season as a wing and then 5 as a goalie. Goalie is my favorite position, it is so much fun to play and such a challenge. Now that we're out of the Bay area I try to watch San Jose Sharks Hockey as much as possible, disappointing though they have been the last few seasons.
