Connecting Portugal’s Industrial Past and Future Through Tinplate Toy Heritage
Connecting Portugal’s Industrial Past and Future Through Tinplate Toy Heritage
On 12–13 February, the Toy Story project conducted research at the Musée de l’air et de l’espace (France), working with its collection of aviation-themed toys.
In collaboration with HE-ARC (Switzerland), an international partnership will study a selection of tinplate toys from the project’s target period, focusing on construction techniques, mechanical systems, and surface coatings.
During these two days, Laurent Rabiet (Musée de l'air et de l'espace), Laura Brambilla (HE-ARC), and Isabel Tissot (Toy Story project – NOVA FCT) carried out the selection of the study corpus.
On February 6–7, Toy Story participated in the 1st International Congress on Toys in Ponte de Lima, Portugal.
We presented the paper “Ingenuity and Art in Tinplate Toys: When Material Speaks of Cultural Identity”, contributing to an international exchange between academics, museum professionals, manufacturers, and collectors.
