We are pleased to invite you to TCA 2026, which will take place in Guimarães, Portugal.
Guimarães offers an excellent setting for our conference. The city combines a well-preserved medieval center—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site—with modern conference facilities and convenient transportation links through Porto airport, just 45 minutes away.
The conference will be held at the University of Minho campus, which provides modern lecture halls and meeting spaces suited to our technical sessions and informal discussions. The compact city center means that conference venues, hotels, and restaurants are all within walking distance.
For those arriving early or staying after the conference, Guimarães provides several points of interest. The historic center dates from the 12th century, when Portugal was established as an independent kingdom. The Castle of Guimarães and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza are notable examples of Portuguese medieval architecture. The city also maintains a strong academic presence through the University of Minho, contributing to its dynamic atmosphere.
We have arranged special rates at several hotels near the conference venue. The local organizing committee will provide detailed information about accommodation, transportation, and registration in the coming months.
We look forward to welcoming you to Guimarães next summer for what promises to be a productive meeting in a city that offers both excellent facilities and a distinctive Portuguese character.
Porto Airport -> Guimarães (directly by bus):
This is often the most direct and convenient option.
There are direct bus services (e.g., GetBus, FlixBus, RedeExpressos) operating from Porto Airport (OPO) directly to the Guimarães bus terminal. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour.
It is recommended to check the companies' websites for schedules and to book tickets in advance.
Porto Airport -> Campanhã (Train & Bus Stations):
Line E (Violet) of the Porto metro runs between the airport and Campanhã metro station. Some trains from the airport on this line terminate at Trinidade station. In this case, just take the next train (which may be for line A, B, C, E, or F) from the same platform where your train arrived. Returning to the airport, be sure to take a train for line E.
For travel between the airport and city, buy a Z4 ticket (= four zones), costing € 2.25 (plus € 0.60 for the rechargeable Andante card on first purchase). The journey takes approximately 35 minutes.
