Ana Carneiro

Ana Carneiro is a retired Associate Professor of history of science at the Department of Applied Social Sciences, NOVA School of Science and Technology. She graduated in Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and completed a PhD in History, Philosophy and Social Relations of Science at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK. She has been a member of the Interuniversity Centre of History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT) and published books, book chapters and articles in international specialized journals devoted to the history of science, notably on the history of chemistry and of geology. Coordinator of the History of Chemistry Group, Portuguese Society of Chemistry (SPQ), 2005/07; President-elect of the History of the Earth Sciences Society (HESS) 2015 and 2016; Member of the editorial board of Centaurus, journal of the European Society for the History of Science, 2018-2023; Chief Editor of the international on-line journal HoST, History of Science and Technology, 2011/17.
