National Plan for Industrial Heritage

Last June, the 5th International Conference on Industrial Heritage and its Museology took place in Guimarães, Portugal.

At the conference, organized by TICCIH Portugal and Sociedade Martins Sarmento, a motion was approved on the need for a National Plan for Industrial Heritage.

The IH4Future team considers this is a significant action, and for this reason, we promote the proposal dissemination.

European researchers' night 2020

IH4Future is present at the 2020 edition of the online European Researchers’ Night.

This year we set-up a joint venture between EMS, IH4Future, Brama and Musa paradisiaca and we propose a film documenting the several activities and projects developed at the Vale de Milhaços gunpowder factory.

European Heritage days 2020

September 25th-27th 2020

H4Future co-organised the activity “Gunpowder Factory of Vale de Milhaços-Heritage, Research and Culture for Citizenship” in the framework of the European Heritage days.

The first part of this event included the presentations from two mechanical engineering master students that are developing their thesis on the steam engine. The project grantee also presented the work in progress about the material characterisation of ferrous materials. The second part comprised the visit to the gunpower circuit following a debate to share experiences with specialists that are developing projects at the factory – the IH4Future, Musa Paradisiaca and Brama.

We are preparing the European researchers’ night 2020. Challenging times require different solutions for communicating our projects. This year we set-up a joint venture between EMS, IH4Future, Brama and Musa Paradisica.

Maintenance Photo Contest

IH4Future is participating in the industrial maintenance photo contest promoted by the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS).

Between ashes and Light at the end of the cylinder taken during the cleaning of the J.Peres boiler of 1911.are the two photographs submitted to contest.

Beyond the visible

July.2020

In July, fieldwork and analytical campaigns, such as the material and structural characterisation of engines and 3D scanning of the steam engine, took place at the Factory. We invited interested parties to visit the Factory during the fieldwork, promoting the project public dessimination
