Open MSc thesis/internships
Our research group welcomes motivated students interested in developing master dissertations, curricular internships, or research projects within the themes listed below. These topics provide an opportunity to engage with ongoing research activities and gain experience in a collaborative academic environment.
Development of Hydrogel-Forming Fucopol Microneedles for Controlled Drug Delivery in Inflammatory Skin Diseases;
Production of Novel PHA copolymers by Pseudomonas mandelii;
From Old to Gold: Microbial Recycling of PHAs, a High-Potential Biopolymer;
Linking Microbial Community Structure to VFAs and Hydrogen Production from Bakery Waste;
Salinity as an Operational Strategy for Polyhydroxyalkanoate Production by two halotolerant Strains in Open Systems;
Design of bioactive cosmetic formulations with microbial-derived polymers and pigments;
Biological Depolymerisation of PHA Wastes for the Production of Valuable Precursors;
Development of ophthalmic formulations based on natural polymers;
Halotolerant Mixed Microbial Cultures as a Platform for Enhanced PHA production;
These opportunities are currently not associated with financial remuneration or dedicated funding.

We welcome applications for prospective MSCA fellows, Postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, Master students, Undergraduate students and Visiting Scholars.
If you want to become a member of our laboratory, please contact directly bioeng.gestao@fct.unl.pt enclosing a CV highlighting your education background, interests, achievements (publications, awards) and a short description of the research you would like to conduct at our laboratory.

At the Biochemical Enginnering Lab there are members from different nationalities, therefore foreign applicants do not have to fear that inability to speak in Portuguese is an impediment.
