We are beginning our next reading unit in March and it is all about FROGS! Students will learn about the life cycle of frogs, their habitats, the food they eat, and much more. We will dive into three texts. Our main text is Frogs, by Nic Bishop. This is a nonfiction book where we will develop most of our new reading skills and focus mostly on the facts of frogs. Our companion texts are Frog or Toad? by Nic Bishop, another nonfiction to help know the similarities and differences between a frog and a toad, and our fiction story, Days with Frog and Toad , the popular book series! In addition to learnings about frogs, we will also learn about nonfiction text features and how they are used in our books. We are super excited to 'spring' into this new unit!

For our new reading unit, our grade level will be doing something different and EXCITING! Our students will be working in partners to research their own animal! Students will learn how to properly research their animals, including navigating safer websites and learning what it's like to be a safe digital citizen. They will do their own writing and using graphic organizers to organize their information. Once all research and writing has been complete, each classroom will be publishing their own book about their animals! Keep an eye out for more information on this 👀
