Goal:
Encourage young women of FCPS to consider pursuing careers in science & engineering as well as connect them to female STEM role models & other girls with similar interests. WISE is a program developed to encourage high school females to participate as they have as a group been identified as underrepresented in the fields of science & engineering; however, all high school students, are welcome to participate.
Consider attending WISE if you are interested in:
Learning more about what it really means to be employed in a STEM career
Exploring a variety of STEM fields
Opportunities to meet staff of internationally recognized research facilities in and near Frederick County
Participating in hands-on learning experiences related to STEM careers
Meeting other students from FCPS who share similar interests in STEM

History:
Started locally at Catoctin High School as an after school club run by a science teacher, Mrs. Bruck (2002)
Moved to a central location and expanded to whole county (2005)
Transitioned to Secondary Science Office advisors (2014)
