While we realize mornings before work and school can be quite busy, it is especially important with our current pandemic to be vigilant about accessing your child for illness before sending them to school each morning. Please include in this assessment checking your child’s temperature using a thermometer. A temperature of 100.4 or greater is a sign of illness.
Please be aware that the health room must adhere to the guidelines from the Maryland Department of Health and Maryland State Department of Education when making decisions about when to send an ill student home. The information below is taken directly from the “Decision Aid: Exclusion and Return for Laboratory Confirmed COVID-19 Cases and Person with COVID-19-like illness in Schools, Child Care Programs, and Youth Camps” updated 1/7/21.
For the purposes of this decision aid, COVID-19-like illness is defined as: Any 1 of the following: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell, OR At least 2 of the following: fever of 100.4o or higher (measured or subjective), chills or shaking chills, muscle aches, sore throat, headache, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, and congestion or runny nose.
Person (child, care provider, educator, other staff) with 1 new symptom not meeting the definition of COVID-19-like illness.
THEN: Exclude person and allow return when symptoms have improved, no fever for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, AND criteria in the Communicable Diseases Summary have been met as applicable. If person develops symptoms of COVID-19-like illness, follow processes below for person with COVID-19-like illness.
**If your child has symptoms consistent with COVID-19-like illness (CLI) you will be contacted to pick up your child. Further information will be given at this time regarding what is expected going forward, ie. testing, seeking medical care, and the need to possibly isolate/quarantine at home, etc.**
As always, the health and well-being of our students and staff is paramount. Thank you in advance for doing your part to keep RCS safe!

We are the same people, we just look different! Listen to Ms. Cari show you the new gear our staff may be wearing.
Please be aware of current guidelines:
Governor Hogan's Travel Order: The governor issued an emergency order requiring Marylanders to limit all travel to essential purposes only. All Marylanders who do travel outside of Maryland must either obtain a negative COVID-19 test result or self-quarantine for 10 days. The exceptions to the order include Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Hybrid students who travel outside of Maryland will need to follow the governor's order and should access virtual instruction upon return for 10 days or until a negative COVID test is obtained
Estimada familia:
Classrooms will look very different as we return to Hybrid learning. Check out the video to the left with Ms. Sweadner to take a quick peek into what your classroom will look like.
After a busy morning of Hybrid learning, you will work up an appetite. Some students will eat in the classroom and others in the cafeteria. Nurses will also be available to assist with feedings.
You will enter school by a special door. Parents who are driving their children will arrive in the front office entrance. Other students will arrive on the bus at the side entrance.

The first day of Hybrid school is almost here. In case you are wondering what you need to bring to school each day.
