What is Food Science?
Food Science is a semester long, 6th grade exploratory Family and Consumer Sciences course. It is one of the first CTE (Career Technology Education) courses that most students will take at Frederick County Public Schools. Hands-on activities in this course provide introductory opportunities for students to understand principles of food preparation, nutrition, and the food system. Food Science engages students in activities designed to practice decision-making strategies, 21st century skills, explore career options, and learn financial literacy notions that promote personal growth and wellness.
