National School Counseling Week:

February 6-10, 2023

“School Counselors: Helping Students Dream BIG”

The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) uses this week to focus public attention on the unique contribution of School Counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights school counselors’ tremendous impact in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

This week is a special week for us and we wanted to share it with YOU!  Throughout the week, there were several activities to show you our appreciation.  Our theme this year is “HELPING STUDENTS DREAM BIG” and we are thankful for everything our staff members, students, and community do to work together toward this goal! 🙂

Kindness Challenge Week

January 23-27, 2023

FCPS uses this week to emphasize KINDNESS in the school setting. Throughout the week, there will be several activities to learn about and practice kindness.  We need EVERYONE to be their best Glade Jaguar as we WORK HARD, BE KIND!

ALL WEEK: All students had a kindness lesson with Ms. Dattoli in Media and we will build our very own GES Chain of Kindness!

Monday 1/23 - SPOTs of Kindness: All students received a little SPOT of kindness - "every time you see it, remember to BE KIND!" 

Tuesday 1/24 - Be Kind to your TEACHERS: Students showed teachers kindness by decorating a heart for them during lunchtime. The PTA also had some fun surprises. Thank you PTA! 🙂

Wednesday 1/25 -  Make YOUR OWN Kind SPOT:  Teachers were provided with “SPOTs” for every student to decorate a SPOT that represents them. These SPOTs will be displayed at Glade for all to see!

Thursday 1/26 - Be Kind to YOURSELF: Teachers were provided with an activity for students to learn about being kind to themselves and to share how they can be kind to themselves.

Friday 1/27 - 100 Acts of Kindness: Congratulations to Ms. Sinton's third-grade class and Ms. Wagner's first-grade class for winning the Kindness challenge! Each class will celebrate with their very own SPIRIT DAY!
