Through a grant from the Maryland State Department of Education, the Frederick Grow Your Own (GYO) Collaborative Program will support conditionally-licensed special education teachers on their path toward initial licensure.
Frederick GYO Collaborative Program members include Frederick County Public Schools, McDaniel College, the Frederick County Teachers Association, and the Frederick Association of School Support Employees.
About the Frederick GYO Collaborative
Candidates admitted into the Frederick GYO Program will be FCPS conditionally-licensed special education teachers. Once admitted into the Frederick GYO Program, the teachers will be admitted into McDaniel College, where they will enroll in a Post-Baccaleaurate Certificate (PBC) course of study in special education.
The 29-credit PBC leads to initial licensure in elementary/middle or secondary/adult special education and is designed to be completed in four semesters. The PBC is specifically designed for conditionally-licensed teachers as they pursue licensure while employed.
