MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Cougar Community,

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner; looking forward to that holiday, I was reminded of the care and attention we provide to every student and the important work we do at Catoctin every day in support of the “whole child”. Every day we uphold our responsibilities to educate students and to keep them safe. We care about every single student and we strive to support them academically and social-emotionally. We work to foster wellness and to encourage decisions and actions that will support their mental and physical health.

There are many ways in which we can partner to raise healthy, well-educated young adults:

      • Encourage our students to get an adequate amount of sleep

      • Remind them to eat healthy foods (including breakfast each morning)

      • Support our students’ engagement in physical activity

      • Ensure that our students do NOT use drugs or alcohol; educate students about the dangers of habits such as vaping

      • Encourage our young adults to limit the use of electronic devices (especially the use of phones during school and school work hours)

      • Help our students to create good school habits (doing and submitting their work, attending school, prioritizing school over other competing interests)

      • Communicate and collaborate if you are worried about any aspect of your child’s well-being

The last two years have been challenging for all of us and many teenagers are still struggling to reacclimate academically and social-emotionally. Our encouragement, direction, and collaboration will help to get them back on track for learning, achievement, and well-being.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Catoctin High School staff if you have any concerns or ways in which we can partner with you in support of your child’s success.

Go Cougars!
