ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Academy of Health Professions (AoHP) provides students with the opportunity to apply classroom and lab skills in real life clinical settings. AoHP students will become certified in CPR and First Aid, learn how to read medical records, measure vital signs, and prevent infections, study the urinary system by performing chemical and microscopic examinations of urine, and test blood for glucose, hematocrit & hemoglobin while investigating the function of this liquid tissue. These are only a few of the health care procedures you will master while learning human anatomy & physiology.
The Maryland State Department of Education has designed the Academy of Health Professions, as a comprehensive and cohesive completer program. The majority of our programs consist of four semesters over 2 years and are developed to prepare students for entry-level healthcare certification and/or future college programs. For most of our courses there are no official pre-requisites, however completion or concurrent enrollment in Biology and Chemistry is strongly encouraged.
